Webinar overview
Green or sustainable purchasing is a management process used to give
preference to suppliers of goods and services that demonstrate positive social
and environmental impacts. The purpose of sustainable purchasing is to shift
spending away from goods and services that negatively impact the environment
and society towards products that are more environmentally sound and socially
beneficial. It is part of a growing movement within government, industry and
civil society toward more sustainable forms of production and consumption.
Our series of 3 webinars will provide you with a better understanding on
sustainability in purchasing according to the following topics:
Sustainable Purchasing I (basics):
This Webinar teaches the basics of
purchasing sustainable materials and products from sustainable suppliers.
We review the basics of an environmentally-sustainable company and its
supply chain, focusing on the purchasing professional’s perspective. The
Webinar provides tools for developing and implementing a sustainable
purchasing strategy consistent with other purchasing and corporate goals.
Sustainable Purchasing II (advanced):
Sustainable Purchasing (I)
provided information on the basics of sustainability in purchasing and outlined
tools to develop and implement a sustainable purchasing program for materials
and products. This Webinar builds off of that basic information by discussing
(a) sustainable procurement of services, (b) advanced sustainability practices,
(c) certain industry-specific information and (d) activities outside of the
United States.
Scoring Suppliers on Sustainability:
Designing effective supplier
scorecards in the fast-changing area of sustainability is tricky. Supply
managers, under pressure to deliver, need help. Participants will learn the
value of including sustainability in their supplier evaluation programs, which
metrics to measure and which to avoid and who to involve in program design
and implementation.
